Technology Systems Support Certificate

This certificate is designed for active duty personnel who have successfully completed most of the course requirements necessary to earn an AA or AS degree. Students interested in this certificate must possess basic computer skills (word processing, presentation tool and Internet skills when available) and the ability to complete a university level distance learning course.

Skills developed in the TSS Undergraduate Certificate enable individuals to work effectively in telecommunications and networking operations by preparing them to assume the roles of network, telecommunications, and instructional systems support specialists in a wide variety of organizations. The courses to complete the TSS certificate are:

• EME 4622 Technology Tools: Site-based Educational Networks (4 credit hours)
• EME 4627 Education & Training Technical Support (4 credit hours)
• EME 4454 Distance Education Technologies (3 credit hours)
• EME 3406 Web Environments for Learning and Information (4 credit hours)
• EME 3402 Information Engineering Technology (3 credit hours)
  Total Credit Hours: 18

These courses develop high-level skills including:

• Matching appropriate network and telecommunications systems to organization and application requirements
• Production of system designs that efficiently meet application specifications
• Web development of sites that focus on production methods and management practices oriented toward large-scale systems and re-usable resources
• Development of implementation plans for network and telecommunications systems and services using strategies and methods that are cost efficient and scalable
• Determination of instructional or training activities that align to technological tools objectives

The hours earned in this certificate program can be applied toward either the UWF Information Engineering Technology or Interdisciplinary Information Technology undergraduate degrees that are available fully online through the UWF Online Campus. For Non-Florida residents these online undergraduate degree programs are eligible for the out-state-fee waiver which will substantially reduce the tuition costs from out of state rates.
