Human Performance Technology Certificate

This certificate is designed for active duty or civilian personnel who’ve earned a BA or BS degree and work as managers, analysts, designers, implementers, evaluators, or change leaders. Students interested in this certificate must possess basic computer skills (word processing, presentation tool and Internet skills when available) and the ability to complete a graduate level distance learning course.

UWF's innovative Graduate Certificate in Human Performance Technology (HPT) develops your skills in identifying and solving performance problems. The HPT certificate program aligns to performance standards and competencies developed by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI).

The Human Performance Technology certificate prepares you to identify organizational performance problems and recommend effective solutions within corporate, nonprofit, public education and military organizations. It is designed for anyone leading change and improving performance in organizations. The courses to complete the HPT certificate are:

• EME 6429 Human Performance Improvement (3 credit hours)
• EME 6426 HPT Interventions (3 credit hours)
• EME 6427 Implementing HPT Interventions (3 credit hours)
• EME 6428 Evaluating HPT Interventions (3 credit hours)
  Total Credit Hours: 12

These courses provide education and training leaders with the high-level skills necessary to:

• Fundamental knowledge and skills required to engage in basic performance consulting activities associated with human performance technology
• Make appropriate recommendations concerning possible ways to close past, present, or possible future performance gaps using instructional and non-instructional solutions
• Guarantee that interventions are implemented in ways consistent with desired results and that they help individuals and groups achieve results
• Assess the impact of interventions and follow up on changes made, actions taken, and results achieved in order to provide stakeholders and decision makers with information about how interventions are implemented

The hours earned in this certificate program can be applied toward either the Education & Training Management Subspecialty/Human Performance Technology (ETMS – HPT) or the Master of Science in Administration/Human Performance Technology (MSA – HPT) graduate degrees. These two degrees and many more are available fully online through the UWF Online Campus. For Non-Florida residents these online graduate degree programs are eligible for the out-state-fee waiver which will substantially reduce the tuition costs from out of state rates.
